Toon Aerts secured his first X2O Badkamers Trofee title. As he was already certain to claim the overall win after his victory in Lille last week, Aerts was able to ride a comfortable race in Brussels, where he was awarded the series’ prize afterwards.

Due to a crash immediately after the start, Aerts wasn’t able to fight for today’s victory - but thanks to his comfortable lead in the series (with more than 10 minutes over Eli Iserbyt, the crash didn’t have an impact on the final overall result. With wins in Kortrijk and Lille and a strong result in the other 6 races, the rider of Baloise - Trek Lions is a well-deserved winner of this year’s X20 Badkamers Trofee.

Toon Aerts:

“I’ll have to take a look at what exactly happened at the start that caused me to crash, but my chances on today’s victory were gone right away. Fortunately, I already was certain of the overall victory. This Trofee was one of my season goals, together with the World Championships. The Worlds didn’t turn out like I hoped, so I’m happy to have won these series.”
