Bert De Backer waved professional cycling goodbye after an epic edition of Paris-Roubaix, his last race as a professional rider. De Backer (37) has been a consistent rider throughout the years, starting his pro career in 2009 at Skil-Shimano (later Argos-Shimano, Giant-Shimano, Giant-Alpecin and Team Sunweb). In 2018 he moved to B&B Hotels p/b KTM. De Backer was a valuable domestique and a rider with tons of experience. He also won de GP Jef Scherens, and in Paris-Roubaix he finished 4 times inside the top 20. On Sunday, he said goodbye at Paris-Roubaix, the Belgian’s favourite race.
