Shari Bossuyt and Lotte Kopecky took gold at the 2022 Track World Championships in the Madison. The duo won after a thrilling and tactical finale.

On the penultimate day of the World Championships Track Cycling in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines Bossuyt and Kopecky were the only duo to take een bonus lap in the Women’s Madison.

With 40 laps to go, Kopecky took off to get to the bonus lap. The Belgian duo had to fight 20 laps to achieve this, but they’re plan worked out eventually. In the finale, Bossuyt and Kopecky had to keep an eye on the French duo, who thought to have won the final sprint and the world title, not being aware that the Danish Women were ahead of them.

Belgium had to finish 4th in the final sprint to keep off France, with only one point! For Kopecky it’s already the second World Title this Championship (as she also won the Elimination Race) and the 4th World Title overall. For Bossuyt it’s the first World Title in her young career.
