Jonas says goodbye to professional cycling at the end of this season. The 35-year-old Belgian can look back on a successful career with stage wins in the Vuelta, Criterium du dauphiné and Tour de Pologne among others.

“The bike has been a big part of my life, but I know there are other beautiful things in life to live for. I already have several ideas and plans I want to realize", Van Genechten says in a press release of his team.

The 35-year-old Belgian, who lives in Spain, looks back on a strong career, with his stage win at the Vuelta in 2016 as his biggest success: “I had suffered a lot during that specific Vuelta, but I knew I had the legs that day to win and did everything I have to achieve this goal. It’s what I appreciated most during my career: achieving the goals we aim for. Whether it’s an individual or collective goal. To win, you need luck, but most of all confidence.”

We, Isea Sport Management, want to thank Jonas for being such a valueable, much appreciated rider in the pro peloton and for working with us during the past years. It was an honour to represent such a rider and wish him all the best in whatever comes next. We know he will achieve the many goals and dreams he has in his post-cycling life.
