At the end of this year, Kris Boeckmans (33) will retire from professional cycling. The cyclist of B&B Hotels - Vital Concept P/B KTM says goodbye to the peloton after a successful career of 11 seasons.

His biggest achievements include the U23 European Title in 2009, stage wins in Bessèges, Tour de Picardie & WorldPort Classics and victories in Le Samyn & Nokere Koerse (2015).

Kris Boeckmans:

"At the end of 2020 I will officially retire as a professional cyclist. Cycling has always been a big part of my life. After 11 seasons as a professional, i am proud of what I have achieved. I had the opportunity to race with successfull teams, participate in beautiful races as Tour de France, Milaan-San Remo... , discover incredible landscapes and make friends for life. Thanks to family, friends, fans, staff and teammates."

"Special thanks to my parents who have spent the last 21 years of their lives on the road supporting me. They have done a lot to make my dream possible. Thanks also to Roger and Gerda who always welcome me with open arms in their home in Spain. Cycling has also put a nice gift on my road: my future wife, the mother of my son. Thx Marie! Without all of you, my cycling adventure wouldn't have been the same."

"Now is the time for a new chapter in my life. I look forward to share my other passion with you. My goal in the coming year is to open a cozy place where cyclists (or cycling enthusiasts) can share stories around a good coffee. It will be my way of staying connected to the beautiful cycling world. Thank you all for everything and see you around a good coffee: Café Fringale."
