Christophe Laporte has won the second edition of Circuit de Wallonie. He lived up to he status of pre-race favourite as he proved to be the strongest after the 194 km race. In a bunch sprint, he topped compatriot Marc Sarreau and Laurence Pithie. After winning the opening stage of Etoile de Bessèges, the Circuit de Wallonie is the second victory of the season for Laporte.
“I’m super happy. It was a fast race, without many breakaways. The final 100 km were tough: our team tried to be in the breakaway as much as possible, so we wouldn’t have to carry the weight on our shoulders. We had always one rider in the front, so we performed well. After reeling in the final 3 escapees, it came down to organising our sprint. I was well-positioned by the team and I could follow the wheel of the team that launched the sprint. I powered past them in the final 100 metres. The team was great today, so I’m happy I could reward them with this victory.”
