Laurens Sweeck won the fifth round of the Ethias Cross series, beating Tom Meeusen & Felipe Orts in Leuven. For Sweeck it’s his second win of the season, after already winning de Kermiscross in Ardooie three weeks earlier.

Sweeck took a convincing win in Leuven as he took off in the third lap, establishing a considerable gap quite easily. Just as last year, Sweeck was able to finish solo after a technical and muddy race.

Laurens Sweeck:

“I tried to make a difference in the first half of the race to safely ride to the finish towards the end. I’m glad my plan worked out, though I didn’t lose any speed. I was able to keep up a nice pace, so I didn’t have to take any risks further ahead.”

"Tonight, I’m flying to Tabor for the next World Cup race, but my main focus was on today. I’m happy to take this victory. We’ll see what happens tomorrow.”
