Ag2r La Mondiale adds classic talents Stan Dewulf and Gijs Van Hoecke to their team. Both riders have signed a deal for the coming two years.

Stan Dewulf became pro in 2019 with Lotto Soudal after winning the U23 edition of Paris-Roubaix in 2018. The 22-year-old will play a big role in the classic races for Oliver Naesen, who's the team's leading man. Also Gijs Van Hoecke (28) will strengthen Ag2r's classics' team as he proven his skills at CCC Team during the past two years.

Stan Dewulf:

After 5 years at Lotto Soudal, I'm ready for a new chapter and step in my career. I got hooked by the team’s project and know I still have a lot to learn about the classics. I think my temperament is similar to Oliver’s. I’m here to do the best I can, but I keep my feet on the ground. I won Paris-Roubaix in the U23 category, the race that makes me dream. You either worship the race, or you hate it. I fall into the first category.”

Gijs Van Hoecke:

“I know Oliver very well: we were almost neighbors at one time. We raced together in the Junior category, but also at Topsport. I am very happy to join him and his brother Lawrence and bring my experience to the classics. AG2R LA MONDIALE is a team with a great and long history. I live on the course of the Ronde Van Vlaanderen, so that is the race that makes me dream. I don’t think I could win it, but I would do anything to help one of our team leaders.”

Team manager Vincent Lavenu is happy with the transfer of Dewulf and Van Hoecke: "Stan is one of the biggest Belgian hopes for the classics and signing him will further strengthen our ambitions in this area. He won Paris-Roubaix U23 in 2018, which proves his skills."

"Oliver Naesen wanted a rider to protect him in strategic moments in the classics, and Gijs excels in this kind of work. He's willing to gives his all to protect his leader. He will be of huge value for his teammate."
