Stan Dewulf has concluded his season in style, crossing the line solo at the Boucles de l’Aulne and taking his first professional victory.
Dewulf showed his form for the last time in 2021. In the 1.1 Boucles de l’Aulne he finally got rewarded for his fighting spirit he showed in the last weeks. The rider of AG2R Citroën was part of a 4-rider break before he made the decisive attack at 10 km from the finish in Chateaulin. Dewulf finished solo, 36” ahead of Valentin Madouas and Mathieu Burgaudeau.
Dewulf, who moved in 2020 from Lotto Soudal to AG2R Citroën, finally got rewarded for his attractive racing throughout the season. He finished second overall in the Tour de Wallonie and rode a superb Vuelta. This Autumn, Dewulf kept collecting strong results: he finished 11th at the European Championships, 12th at the Primus Classic, 5th at Binche-Chimay-Binche and 4th at Paris-Tours. Just before the 2021 cycling season comes to a closure, Dewulf managed to take his long awaited first pro victory.
