Toon Aerts has claimed a bronze medal at the UCI Cyclocross World Championship in Dübendorf.

On the tough and muddy course, Toon fought his way to his second consecutive bronze medal and only had to tolerate pre-race favourite Mathieu Van der Poel and British rider Tom Pidcock ahead of him.

Toon Aerts:

"Mathieu went full gas from the start. I tried to hold his pace, but I quickly paid the price for trying. It took some time to recover from those efforts, but I still managed to secure the third podium spot. In the end, I finish between three of the most talented riders: talents the whole cycling world is talking about. I did want to keep up with Mathieu for a bit longer, but I'm proud of what I did today."
