With last week’s overall title in the Superprestige Series, Toon Aerts kept his winning mode by dominating the X²O Badkamers Trofee in Brussels today, while securing his second place in the general ranking as well.
“It was a though course, but I started strong. I was in my zone until I got a flat tyre. Quinten (Hermans) was able to close the gap quickly and I decided to take a look at how he was riding by analysing his lines. I was better at the sloping side. Especially when I changed bikes.”
“When you ride a strong World Championships, you’d normally have to keep your shape until the following races. However, I did a lot of training after the Worlds and took a little too much rest afterwards. Later, I had issues with my stomach – probably due to the stress concerning the Superprestige overall victory. Fortunately, I was able to leave those problems behind me.”
“There are only two races left this season. I will give it all I have left. I’d really like to win Oostmalle as it’s close to my home.”
