Wout van Aert recorded his 4th and 5th victory in a row, winning the WorldCup at Dendermonde on Sunday and the Superprestige at Zolder on Monday.
In both races, van Aert showed he is a level above the rest. At Dendermonde he finished with an advantage of 50 seconds over Van der Poel; at Zolder he crossed the line more than one minute ahead of second finisher Tom Pidcock. With his 5th win in 5 races, Van Aert continued his winning streak for the 2021-2022 cyclo-cross season.
Wout van Aert:
“I felt the efforts of yesterday’s cross. I had to wait and see how I would feel in the race. Fortunately, I quicky had a good feeling. I managed create a gap early in the race, and afterward I was able to keep my own pace. I made one small mistake, but I regained my focus. Luckily, I was able to make up for it and continue my ride towards the finish line - and victory. I look back on the past two races with satisfaction. Now, I’ll have to rest and fill up the energy tank again as the next race in Loenhout already awaits on Thursday.”
