With 6 top 3-places and time trial victory in Paris-Nice, Wout van Aert has proven to be more than ready for the coming classics.

The Jumbo-Visma rider sealed the green jersey in the ‘Race to the Sun’. In the final stage, Van Aert impressed once more by helping teammate Primoz Roglic through the hard final kilometres of the stage and still finishing second.

Wout van Aert:

“The plan was that I would stay as long as possible with Primoz. We tried to control the race, which wasn’t easy with the many tough climbs. Towards the final, I thought we were in a good position and I hoped that Primoz would have the legs like he often has, but he had a tough day. I knew that there would be more wind in the second part of the climb, so it would be important to be together. From that point, it was full gas towards the finish.”

“It was a nice goal to try and conquer the green jersey. I felt good today and was able to collect extra points to be sure to win the points classification. So I’m very happy with this jersey and – of course – with the overall win of Primoz.”
