Wout van Aert powered to the stage win in today's time trial and took over the yellow jersey from teammate Christope Laporte.

Van Aert averaged over 49km/h during his 16 minute, 20 second time over the 13.4 km course. Van Aert proved his time trial skills as he stormed up the final climb, crossing the line two seconds quicker then teammate Dennis Rohan. Van Aert not only took the day's honours, but also moved in the yellow jersey.

Wout van Aert:

“Along the way, I didn’t notice much of the time differences, so I just rode full gas towards the finish. It was hard to be on the pedals all the time on the last climb, but it was necessary.”

“We are one of the best teams in the time trial, so perhaps this result is not very surprising. Primoz and Rohan have also won many prizes in this discipline and were on the podium of the Olympic time trial last year. That says enough. This is another victory by and for the team. It’s already been a great week, so hopefully, more great results will come. We are going to do everything we can to win this race.”
