Wout van Aert has won the Krawatencross in his hometown Lille today, claiming his first victory after his Tour de France crash in July and comeback in December.

Starting from the third row, Wout quickly moved up to the front and even went solo halfway through the race. With one lap to go, he had collected an advantage of more than 20 seconds to secure the first place in front of his home crowd. IIt’s Wout’s first cyclocross victory since Pont-Chateau in 2019.

Wout van Aert:

“When I crossed the line, a lot went through my mind. This is the confirmation that I can still do it. It might not be my biggest victory, but it certainly feels like it. Especially in front of my home crowd. It went through my mind all week: this race and the dream to win here. It is a nice reward after all I have been through in the past months. This is very emotional.”
