Wout van Aert added another stunning victory to his ever growing palmares today. At the Belgian time trial championships in Middelkerke, Wout lived up to everyone’s expectations as he took the win by 32 seconds.

As soon as the pre-race favourite rolled down the ramp, he settled into his rhythm quickly. At the two intermediate checkpoints, Wout bettered the provisional bests set by Evenepoel by 2 and 10 seconds, respectively. Yet, Yves Lampaert seemed to become Wouts nearest rival as he beat Wout's time at the first time split by 6 seconds.

However, Wout not only maintained his advantage, but also increased it at the second checkpoint, where Lampaert was 5" down on van Aert.

Eventually, Wout stopped the clock of the 38.3-kilometre course at 44:47:97, no less than half a minute faster than National Road Champion, Lampaert. Evenepoel rounded out the podium 38 seconds down on our winner.

"I had started to become enthusiastic about the championship in the last few weeks. This jersey has a lot of value now, because there was a strong field of participants. I am very happy that I was able to win today. I now have everything I need to perform at top level: good legs, top material and top guidance."
